Bayberry Candles
December 11, 2007

Why is it so hard to find Bayberry candles these days? I’ve been shopping just about everywhere and have not seen ANY. It’s all spruce or pine or mistletoe. You would think that since it’s holiday time, you would see them everywhere. No such luck. Today, in a Hallmark store, I finally found Holiday Bayberry from Yankee Candle.
I recently read that burning Bayberry candles draws money to you and brings prosperity to the home. There is that old saying that goes – A bayberry candle burnt to the socket brings food to the larder and gold to the pocket. American Colonists believed that if you lit a new bayberry candle on Christmas Eve, you’d have health, wealth and prosperity in the coming year. I could use that.
It would have been nice to find some real Bayberry candles made from bayberry wax. I bet those smell so good. But I think a Bayberry scented candle would be the next best thing. Although it’s not Christmas Eve, I lit mine a few minutes ago and the scent has started to fill my house. This candle is so big, it will take days, if not weeks to burn it all the way down. Let’s see if the legend is true…
