    Dime 03

    October 4, 2007

Found – In my pants pocket last night.

I was in the local Barnes & Noble the other day just looking around and I noticed that they had some signs up for a Jeffrey Wands book signing. I had heard him on Sirius satellite radio a few times and had told my Dad to schedule a reading with him since he is located on Long Island not far from where my parents live. My Dad never did, I forget the reason why. But I made a mental note of the date of the book signing/discussion and filed it away in my brain.

I have been working late almost every day during the week. Usually until 10 or 11pm and sometimes even later. Yesterday, I remembered that it was the day that Jeffrey Wands was going to be at Barnes & Nobles, and as the day progressed, I thought it would be good for me to take a break from working so much and go up to the store to listen to what he had to say. You can’t always tell how legit someone is from a radio show. I have found that you can get a much better idea in person, especially if you see them interact with people, read people, give a lecture, etc. So I went.

I needed to do some research for a business project that I’m working on, so I went to the magazine section of Barnes & Nobles, picked up a bunch of magazines pertaining to the subject and proceeded to go upstairs to the discussion area. There were about 50 metal folding chairs set up for the event as well as all of the usual easy chairs and tables and chairs that are normally in that area of the store. I wanted to find an easy chair that would be within listening distance. All of the easy chairs were full of high school and college students working on home work except for one which was to the side of the group of folding chairs toward the back. It was a perfect location and it was as if the chair was just waiting for me since almost all of the small uncomfortable folding chairs were full of people.

I sat down, got comfortable, and browsed through the magazines, taking notes on the information that I needed while listening to Jeffrey give his lecture and then answer questions. I was very impressed with his abilities. He nailed everything. There was not one person that he spoke to that did not know what he was talking about or who had to think about what he was saying. I take that back, there was one girl who didn’t know about something that he said and he told her to go home and ask her Mom. I was pleasantly surprised by his competency. He is now one of the few psychics that I would trust as being legit. I look forward to reading his book.

I got home later that night and looked at his appearance schedule that is posted on his website. It just so happens that next week he will be doing a book signing discussion at the Barnes & Nobles in the town where my parents live. I called my Dad to let him know and I told both of my parents that they should go and see him. My Dad will go, but my Mom of course had to give me a hard time about it on the phone.

Anyway, Wednesdays are a really good night for TV. Kitchen Nightmares is on at 9pm, Top Chef is on at 10pm, and Ghosthunters is on at 11pm. My Tivo was busy recording them all while I was out last night. It was about 1am by the time I finished watching everything. I was tired and I went upstairs to go to bed. I always empty my pants pockets before I take them off at night. I usually end up sticking a receipt or a note or a ‘to do’ list in them some time during the day. I pulled out the list of magazines that I needed to research from my right pocket. And then I stuck my hand in my left pocket and felt a coin. I thought to myself “Where did this come from?” I didn’t pick up any coins during the day. Then I thought “Wouldn’t it be funny if this was a dime?” Sure enough, I pulled out the coin and it was a dime.
